Ankle joint actuators

Two degrees of freedom and the hardest packaging problem in the leg. It needs real torque for push-off, but its own mass sits at the far end of the limb where it costs the knee and hip the most. This is why many designs move the actuators up the shank and drive the ankle through linkages or belts instead of mounting them at the joint.
